It came from E3
E3 this year was a complete unknown, since last year we were told there weren't going to be any more, only for a new style event to make it more business like. Personally I wasn't too happy, like some other people I know.
Anyway, the event seemed more clinical this year for the change, the information came out thick, fast, and precise. Which for those unable to attend got the benefit. The amount of content that has been released online now, with videos and trailers for almost all games shown.
So here's my round up of some of the games you may have missed, or decided to ignore due to the current hype around them.
- Jam Sessions
Now this too me was a surprise, it turns the DS into a proper musical instrument. Awesome. - De Blob
Another unexpected game this year, colourful, musical and looks like a lot of fun. It reminded me a lot of the Katamari series, but that's no bad thing. - Echochrome
The guys who came up with idea are either geniuses, or heavy drug takers, either way we win. This game has such a great simple idea, it shouldn't be overlooked. - Facture
Red Faction promised a lot, but never lived up to the fully deformable terrain thing. Thankfully this game seems to do well, and do it in style. - Burnout Paradise
The last Burnout game didn't impress us much, but this one looks like something we can't live without. The multiplayer alone is enough, but the other additions to the game make it look fantastic. - Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway
I'm not a fan of WW2 games at all, but the effects in the latest Brothers in Arms game look mind blowing. Interacting with the battlefield in a way previous games never did.
Some other honourable mentions this year would be Stranglehold for looking like a good next gen Max Payne, Assasins Creed for looking like it's shaping up to deliver its promises, and finally Rock Band for just existing.
