News - Nearly 3/4 Million PSPs in Spain!

Digg!

Nearly 3/4 Million PSPs in Spain!

Sony released the numbers for PSPs units sold since launch in Italy: 650.000, 50k of them (sold ) just in May, selling almost double the amount reached during the same period last year possibly due to the price drop to 169Euros.

Just for the records, John Holder (President of THQ Italia) said that PS2's install base in Italy is roughly 3.5 millions ans still selling strong to the casuals, with PS3 just over 70k.

François Storelli, EA Italy's General Manager, told Game-Pro (Edge's Italian localization) that even if Italy has always been among the strongest Sony feud, DS still sold more than PSP: the numbers are similar though, and differences in sales are nowhere near as significant as in others EU territories.

Italy's numbers currently position the BelPaese as only the fifth European market, just behind Spain ("even with twice the population" <- Holder said it!). Recent studies from AESVI revealed that 35% of Italian gamers are females and that the average age is 28years.
