Half-Life 2: Episode 2 - Team Xbox Preview

The guys over at Team Xbox have posted a preview of Half-Life 2: Episode 2, it's looking very good indeed, here is a snippet.

Naturally, with new environments come new enemies, and if the ones we fought were any indication of what we’ll see in the finished product, it definitely won’t be an easy 8 hours. The most dangerous of these is probably the Hunters, which are synth units that belong to the same family as the towering, spindly-legged Striders. They move quickly and fire devastating plasma darts that explode after a few seconds. Unlike the Striders, these guys will come right into buildings in an attempt to take the fight to you, which leads to some incredibly intense showdowns.

Anyone who played Half-Life 2 running on a high-end PC knows that the game will look great (especially when compared to the original Xbox version), but the developers told me that they’ve added a number of new effects in Episode Two, including a bunch of new shaders, HDR rendering (this was also appear in the Xbox 360 version of Half-Life 2 for the first time), a revamped particle system, and a full screen motion blur. I also learned that they’ll be leveraging the power of the Xbox 360 as much as possible, which includes using the multiple cores to improve the loading times.
